During the period from April to September 1971 one hundred and twenty-six patients were refered from the Siriraj Medical outpatient Clinic to the Psychiatric Clinic Anxiety neurosis was the mosst common disorder 25.4% encountered. Depressive illness and schizophrenia raked second 16.6% and third 11.9% respectively. Other mental illnesses ranged in incidence from 11.9 to 0.8 percent. Diagnostic criteria and treatment of the most common disorders were outlined to serve as practical guides for general practitioners.
