รายละเอียด / Details:

The objectives of this research were to evaluate knowledge and attitudes, and compare factors affecting amphetamine abuse in secondary school students in Nakhon Pathorn Province in 1996 by using a set of questionnaires. It was found that 29.30% of 434 evaluable questionnaires had taken the drug in proportion of 20:1 in male and female students. Most of students (69.10%) were highly knowledgeable about toxicity of amphetamine and had very a good attitude about abusing the drug. Students who had never used the drug had significantly better knowledge on the drug than those who had used the drug. There was significant difference in attitude of the students with such variables as sex, education program, education class, grade, family size and economic status. In terms of practice of amphetamine use, there was significant difference relating to sex of the students, parents' reaction towards drug use, and the awareness of teachers on drug use behavior of the students. In order to solve this drug use problem, it is essential to ensure better coordination and greater concern among such responsible agencies as the Ministries of Interior, Public Health and Education. More effective surveillance on amphetamine sales or distribution in schools should be done. Teachers should work very closely with the parents of suspected students in order to promptly prevent the drug abuse problem in schools English Keyword: Factors Affecting Amphetamine Abuse in High School in Nakhon Pathom Province,1996 P 526-534
