แหล่งที่มา/Source: Journal of Health Science, Vol. 6 No. 4 October-December 1997, P 663-667

รายละเอียด / Details:

To formulate both national and local public health policy, essential information is needed. Such information should include not only the magnitude and severity of health problems, but also their determinants including risk behaviors. However, current existing systems contain only information on the problems themselves while risk behaviors data are usually obtained from ad hoc surveys. There are quite a few surveys conducted in Thailand. This paper is aimed to compare one national and one local surveys utilizing the same methodology to propose policy options. The first national health examination survey and the survey in Ratchaburi province on risk behaviors are compared. Both give similar figures for most of the variables. However, for others, major differences can be noticed. In addition, the local survey has other locality-important questions added in the survey. This points to the importance of locality-specific data and that health administrators should have a policy to support local quick-and-clean surveys.
