The purpose of this research were to study th effect of problem-solving training on the sense of coherence among family members of schizophrenic patients. Twenty family members of schizophrenic patients, who attended psychiatric out patient clinics of Songklanakarin Hospital during January, 2000 to June 2001, were purposively sampled. All samples had a Sense of Coherence scores at middle level and volunteered to participate in the study and received the problem-solving training program. Which developed by the researcher, base on D'Zurilla's Problem-Solving Program and Antonovsky's Sense of Coherence for four times. The research instrument was Antonovsky's (1987) Sense of Coherence questionare (1987). The reliability of strument was obtained by Cronbach' alpha which reliability coefficient was .72. Data were collected before and affter attending the program and were analyse by independent t-test. The finding revealed that a mean score of the Sense of Coherence of the samples after the experiment were significantly higher than the score before the expiriment (p‹.05).
