Family relationship of psychiatric patients who were admitted in Somdet Chaopraya Hospital was studied with regards to the patients and their relatives. Family relationship was classified by gender, age, marital status, education, occupation, patients' income and relative income. A sample of 160 patients and 160 relatives were selected during October and November 1998. Statistical analysis for percentage, mean, standard deviation and analysis of variance were performed using SPSS/WIN. It was found that family relationship was moderate to rather good with score of 3.10 to 4.59. Good family relationship was 43.13%, moderate family relationship was 26.87%, ands poor family relationship was 30.00%. In addition, occupation, income and gender had influence on family relationship when assessed by the patients, but education, age and marital status did not.
