To analyze the effects of economic crises in regards to stress coping styles and suicide idea in thai people during january to March 1998. Rusult : 86.4 percent had been affected mostly financial in nature. 38.3 percent had high to sever stress level Suicedalm idea and suicedal attempted were found to be at 7.5 and 0.34 percent respectively or 7500 and 340 per 100,000 population. Different parts of the country seem to have different responses.The more sever responses were in the central and northern regions Where as the southern region seem to be in a better condition. Besides the differences in the prevalence use of coping styles. Several psychosocial factors may also contribute to the outcomes.
