The purpose of this research was to stuey the pattern of conventional antipsychotic dosage in acute achizophrenic pateients over a 10 -year interval. The sample were selected from acute schizophrenic patients who attended inpatient unit. For each patient the following daata were collected by reviewing the medical record ;demorgraphic data lemgth of stay number of admission duration of illness and specific type and daily dose of conventional antipsychotics for each day of hospitalization. Result : the total mean daily dose of antipsychotic drug in schizophrenic patients increased from 737.77+389.75 mg. Chlorpromazine equivalent in 1989 to 1,015.75+500.33 mg chlorpromazine equivalent in 1999. There was a shift of antipsychotic type from low and high potency in 1989 to high potency in 1999. Conclusion : in 1999 there was higher dosage and more high potency of conventional antipsychitic drug in acute schizophrenic patients than 10 year earlier.
