the psychiatric patients in the local communities. The population studied were the psychiatric Hospital and Ubon Ratchathani Provincial Public Health Office. Data collections were performed by using questionnaire interviews observation and reports. The result showed that the activities for taking care of psychiatric patients organized by community core-leaders could cover physical mental social and career aspects. Community leaders attending the workshop who were proud of having participation opportunities in taking care of psychiatric patients and their families and beingmore comprehensive and empathetic with them were 97%. Among psychiatric patients whose living conditions in community were getting better together with lwss recurrent rate. There were 75% that were not readmittde and not confined to restricted areas. The 97% were patients who took medication continuously with ability to function some activies such as self-caring in bathing and cleaning helping with chores in the family carrying out careers being sociable with other people and paticipating with community activities. There were 98% of patients famillies who wee more understood and empathetic with psychiatric patients pleased and impressed with the increasing in positive community attitudes and general public's concerning and caring assistance. The general public who were more empathetic with psychiatric patients and their realized the caused of patients sickness encouraged toward the patients and also appreciated and applauded the community leaders for taking care of the psychiatric patients were 90%. In conclusion the community care for psychiatric patients could be one of the effective strategies that will save health officials times and various costs of patient's hospitalization. There should be more of such practices carried in the other areas.
