รายละเอียด / Details:

Objective: To develop the Thai Emotional Intelligence Screening test for the Thai population aged 12 to 60 years. Method: The sample of the present study consisted of 6,812 Thai people who were selected as representatives of those residing in bangkok, Chiangmai in the North, Songkhla in the South, Nakhonsawan in the central region, and Ubolratchathano in the North-East. The emotional intelligence as measured in this screening test portrayed the desirable behavior possessed by emotionally mature persons. The three main structures featuring the emotional intelligence were virtue, competence, and happiness. Results: The essential findings from the study are as follows: 1. Analysis of the discrimination index of all 52 test items showed that they were able to differentiate between persons with low and high emotional intelligence scores. 2. The reliability coefficient of the whole set of tests and the three main strutures were Cronbach = 085, .75, .76 and .81; split-half (Odd-even) reliability = .84, .83, .86 and .71 respectively. 3. The emotional intelligence scores as a whole and those on the three main structures could not significantly differentiate between male and female subjects. 4. The emotional intelligence scores as a whole and those on the three main structures were significantly different among the four age groups. The younger age group had lower emotional intelligence scores than those in the higher ones. 5. The subjects who were married obtained significantly higher emotional intelligence scores than those who were single, separated, or divorced. 6. The subjects whose working status was at the executive level scored significantly higher on the present screening test than those whose working status was lower levels. 7. The norms of the Thai Emotional Intelligence Screening Test were also established and the ranges of normal scores were constructed for use with different age groups.
