Drug addiction has been found to be the result of maladjustment or unable to cope effectively with frustration and suffering in Life. Youth addicts use drugs as a way to relieve psychic pain and to continue their wellness. Several studies focus related to drug addiction or causes and effects of drug addiction. Only few of them focus on wellness of addicts. This article present a causal model of meaning and satisfaction in life and was tested on Thai youth addicts population. The variables of the causal model were background (age,duration of drug use, number of hospital admission), meaning in life (seeking for noetic goals,meaning of suffering), life satisfaction (purpose in life, happiness). Subjects were 370 Thai male youth amphetamine addicts who were admitted in Thanyarak Hospital, Department of Medical Services, and Ministry of Public Health between February 1 to May 1, 2001. Data were collected by using questionnaires. The complete response rate is 93.8 percent. Data were analyzed be descriptive and inferential statistics through LISREL version 8.3. The result shows that the causal model of meaning and satisfaction in life of Thai youth addicls were consistent with the empirical data, accounted for 30 percent of variance in meaning in life and 7 percent of life satisfaction. (2=0.93,df=4, p=0.92;AGFI=0.99; RMR=0.41) The direct effect of background on meaning of life and meaning in life on life satisfaction were significant, but the indirect effect of background on life satisfaction via meaning in life was not significant. This study indicates that the causal model is not the best one. Further studies should be addressed more related variables to developing the best wellness model of addicts.
