The study was conducted to determine the problems of the patients and their relatives seeking the psychiatric service at Somdet Chaopraya Hospital. The purpose was to gather the problems in various aspects,namely the intrafamilial relationship, the self care of the patient and the help supported further patients from their relatives and to compare these problems difference among psychiatric diseases. One hundred and eighty-eight patients including their relatives at the outpatient psychaitric service. Somdet Chaopraya Hospital were included in the study. The data of these patients were collected from the outpatient records and the questionnaires to their ralatives. The analysis of fata be SPPS for Windows and the descriptive statistics were obtained for mean, standard deviation, percentage and paired oneway ANOVA by Scheffe's method at the significant level of 0.05 The results were shown in the followings. Intrafamuilial relationship : The problem was moderate in degree and was different severity in psychiatric disease. The families belonged to Organic brain syndrome had less problems than those od Psychosis and Non-psychosis. Self care of the patient : The problem was moderate and differed among psychiatric disease. The Non-psychosis patients had less self care problem, compared to the Mental retardation patients. Help supported by the relatives : The problem was moderate and varied among different psychiatric disorders. The relatives of the patients of psychosis and Organic brain syndrome had less problem than these of Non-psychosis.
