Drug addiction is serious growing problem witch undermines the national economy, societies, communities, families and public health, It also leads to crime and moral degradation. Amphetamine has been drastically spread among Thailand's youth, mostly students who are a valuable national resource. A quasi-experiment was designed to study the effectiveness of the life-skills development program in preventing amphetamine abuse among the secondary school students, Department of General Education in Sukhothai province. 84 students were swparated into 2 groups of 45-experiment and 39-controlled students. The experiment group received the life-skills development proagram. The program is base on the principle of participatory learning using scenarios and group processing. It is designed to improve self-esteem, self-awareness, decision-making skills. Ability to cope with stress, refusal skills and amphetamine abuse prevention. The study confirmed that the life-skills development program could result in measurable improvement of students' self-esteem, self-awareness, decision-making skills, abilityto cope with stress and refusal skills. In conclusion this program can be effective in preventing amphetamine abuse and should applied or combined with other learning and teaching activities to accentuate the effect on amphetamine abuse prevention.
