Suicide is a major social problem that cause losses in human resource. Having predisposing factors are individual, family, community and social factors. The purpose of this study is to compare different causes arising from community structure, socialn and cultural factors,and community participation of suiciding aattemp between suicidal and suicidal free community during the period of 1998 in Srisaket Province. The data were collected from desk research, community survey and observation, and focus group and indepth interview of community leader, relatives, friends, and neighborhood of person attempting suicide for 28 days in the period. Through content analysis, the study found that suicidal free community was well equipped with basic community infrastructure such as sschool, local administrative unit, communication infrastructure, and well education, while suicidal community facing volatile education and cash crops. Conflicts in family, schooling problems, disappointments in love, HIV infections, narcotics were factors affecting suiciding attemp. Supportive factors in Preventing person of taking suicide were their children and mother. Both types of community had no preventive participation in suiciding attemp beause it was considered as individual and unassessable problem. The study; result could contribute to the planning preventing and problem solving process, suiciding attemp in community.
