A study on the evaluation of effects of patient education on epilepsy at Epilepsy Clinic Srithanya Hospital was carried out during January 1997-June 1997. Fifty-four epileptic patients had been invited to the study and completed a questionnaire invented by authors at pre and-entering to the education programme. The programme focused on general knowledge of epilepsy and self care for epileptic patients and their care takers. The questionnaire divided two parts according to the programme. The results showed that the total score of knowledge of epilepsy were significant different between pre and post tests; and significantly correlated to self care of patients. Regarding self care of patients, statistically improvements were on epileptic record chart and drug compliance. In conclusion, the patient education run by nurses can improve self care and clinical compliance of epileptic patients.
