รายละเอียด / Details:
This study examines the prevalence of depression in Thai disable patients. One hundred and eight patients were evaluated within the first two weeks using the Center for Epidemiologic Studies-Depression Scale CES-D. Forty-four patients 40.7 percent were diagnosed with depression according to the CES-D cutoffpoint. Sex was significant in the correlation of the depression score and women showed higher average scores than men 24.4+-14.2, 16.2+-9.6 respectively. Younger patients aged less than 20 years, single, with a prathom education level, 1,001-5,000 baht income, employment vocation, less than three months onset and complete quardriplegia and paraplegia had higher CES-D scores than other patients in each group. Depression was commonly found with diseases which caused disability, so early detection and treatment is vital for the benefit of disabled patients.
