รายละเอียด / Details:

In our child guidance service, we need badly some psychometric tests eapecially the intelligence test for evaluation of the mental deficiency and learning problems. Since there is neither one of the test being constructed nor standardised for the Thai children at the time, we then have to select one which would serve our purpose and would be convenient for us in standardization. Therefore we accept the Progressive Matrices 1947 set A, AB and B prepared by J.C. Raven Msc., Director of Phychological Research, The Crichton Royal, Dumfries. The Booklet form of the test was modified in form of color slide which was quite practical in group test. The test was administered to 1385 school children from within the city limit of four big Province of Thailand. Their ages rang between 7-12 years. The mean and standard deviation for each age were found as reported in Data on page 15. These norms did not represent that of the whole country we need to extend our study to those children in the rural area and in some other provinces of Thailand. We also plan to compare these figures to those from the individual test. In order to find the reliability in predicting the school success, we should made a comparable between the score from the test and the school examination result. In this study we found that the children from the higher educations social and economic background earn more score than those from the lower. Therefore we are sure to find the different norn in the children from the rural area or small provinces while our educational system is changing now, in the next few years we probably find different norms.
