This ethnographic study was to discover the ude of local wisdoms in solving mental health problems. The research was conducted in a suburban area, assessed to be safe, and not inhabited by people unfriendly to outsides and avilability of transportation. Additionally, the spoken dialect of the area was understandable to the researchers. The data were collected from 16 key informants and 44 other participants through the use of focus group, indepth interviews,and participant observations. Field noted were analyzed, using version IV of the computer software ethnography program. The local wisdoms used to dolve mental health problems were fortune telling, religious practicem coping, spiritual animistic rituals and eastern traditional medicines.
