Discussion This patient's clinical features and pathological findings were most typical of the Alzheimer's discase. The gradual onset at the age of 51 years was at a presenile period and the mental deterioration was slow and progressive. Neurological deficits in terms of aphasic phenomena and cerebral seizures developed in the course of illness which lasted 6 years. The air studies showed marked fromtal and temporal cortical atrophy typical of Alzheimer's discase. The neuropathological findings described in great detail are definitely diagnostic of Alzheimer's disease. These included widespread neurofibrillary degeneration argyrophilic plaques neuronal depopulation, and myelin rarefaction. The brain stem and the cerebellum were not affected. The pericapillary deposition of ferro-calcium is unusually prominent in our case. This change is not patognomonic of Alzheinmer's disease. There was a report (50) of a case of presenile Alzheimer's Disease which showed diffuse calcinosis in the brain in addition to the usual changes Summary A case of Alzheimer's disease with typical clinical and pathological findings was reported for the first time in Thailand. A critical review of symptomatology. Diagnostic studies and pathological findings was presented.
