The objective of this descriptive research was to study factors related to perceived stressors among psychiatric patients' relatives during an admission process of patients in acute psychiatric wards at a hospital In South of Thailand. Two hundred subjects were selected by a purposive sampling technique from relatives of psychiatric patients who were admitted in three acute psychiatric wards between March and June 2001. The research instruments comprised of two parts 1) demographic data and 2) perceived stressor questionaire. Data were analyzed in term of frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, bivariate analysis and stepwise multiple regression. The resultsof the study are found as the follows.. Only number of admission can explain perceived acute psychiatric ward environment stressors, the characteristics of nurse personnel and nurse personnel practices at 5.00 percents, 2.00 and 2.00 percents. This finding can be a guideline to train nurse personnel to realize stress patients' relatives and to provide care individually, especially the relatives who had no experience in admitting the patient to acute psychiatric ward.
