This survey study was done to examine the attitudes of relatives toward hemiplegic patients of cerebrovascular disease and to detect the factors that correlated with the attitudes. A total number of 170 relatives of hemiplegic patients admitted at Songkla neuropsychiatric Hospital were included. All were purposiver random sampled. The protocol for attitudes evaluation were developed and based on Likert's scale. It was reviewed by the research experts. The degree of confidence by Cronbach's Alpha coefficient was 0.81. Results showed that all relatives had medium level of attitudes toward hemiplegic patients. Age and marriage status of the relatives had significant correlation with the attitudes (p‹0.05). Those who were under 40 years old and single had higher positive attitides than those who were more than 40 years old and married. The mean value of attitudes between the two age groups and the two narriage status groups showed significant difference (p<0.05 and 0.01 respectively). However, sex, monthly earnings and relation with the patient were found no statistically significant correlation (p>0.05).
