Objective: The objective of this study was to determine the characteristic of patient with somatic complains at Suansaranrom Hospital. Method : Data were collected from patients with somatic complaints during 3 month period at the outpatient clinic of Suansaranrom hospital. Thai Mental Health Questionnaires (TMHQ) was applied to the subjects to determine the characteristic of the mental state in subscale as Somatization, Depression, Anxiety, and Psychotic and Social isolation. Result: There are 103 subjects with somatic complaints during 3 months period. Most of the subjects were female (74.8% ). Psychiatric diagnosis were psychosomatic (72.80%), mood disorder (11.80%), adjustment disorder (7.80%), Anxiety disorder (3.90%), psychotic disorder (1.90%) and physical disorder (1.90%). There were no differences between psychosomatic patients and other psychiatric patients in subscale scores of TMHG except in the depression subscale. The depression, anxiety disorder, and psychotic disorder subscale in other psychiatric patient was higher than the psychosomatic group with statistical significance (0.000,0.000, and 0.038).
