The purpose of this provincial health survey were to study the epidemiological situation of mental health conditions, and social problems related to a person's mental health families and Communities in the Public Health Office Region 7 areas. It was a descriptive cross-sectional study. The target areas for the research implementation were; Ubonratchatani Srisaket Yasothorn Roi-et Amnatcharoen Mookdaharn and Nokornpranom province. The data collection occurred during 1-31 July 1999.3,534 people more than 15 years old were successfully sampled by the two-stage random sampling technique from those seven provinces. The data collection instruments were interviewing forms for climinating and diagnosing; psychiatric illness medicine and drug addiction drink and drunkenness suicide problems of distress/uneasiness/grief and solving problems approaching mental health service happiness of living burden of taking care of dependants cripples and the aged late-developed children in families problems and strategies for solving communities problems divorce child ill-treatment and family violence. The data analysis were careied out by means of frequency and percentage. It was found that 50% of the samples were feminine and 28.9% were 45-49 years of age. 15.7% af all were neurotic 5.4% depressive 0.3% drug-addicted 30.8% drunk or alcoholic beverage and 53.7% of distress/uneasiness/grief. Themost suffering were economic/money problems 48.7% The mostly utikized method for solving distress was self-dependency 59.7%. The rest 0.1% had suicidal thought without committing. About family members it ws found that 1.1% had mental abnormality 8.3% were non-self -help persons; 0.5% had slow-developed children in there families. About mental health service 51.7% knew at he most about the suggestion service of the government and private places avilable 10.4% were used to examination cure services of hispital or clinics. For the opinions towards the policy of wholly good mental health 95% thought thaat the communities were habitable; they felt happy and their families felt the same. The problems mostly found in communities were economic 52.2%. When the problems occurred about 38.4% of the problems were solved by the communities themselves.
